Satellites is an iPhone/iTouch/iPad application that displays the location of the International Space Station (ISS) as it orbits the Earth. The data used is downloaded from up-to-date NORAD and NASA sources so it is as current as it can be. The algorithms used for the orbit predictions are also current, being the latest revisions of the NORAD three-line element SGP software republished in 2006.

The application shows the location of the ISS, the footprint within which the ISS is above the horizon, and one orbit of the upcoming ground track over the ground (solid in sunshine, dotted in shadow).

The application will show the location of the observers device on the earth. The globe of the earth can be rotated and zoomed by touches and pinches to get a detailed view of, for example, when ISS passes near the observer.

Time can be "speeded up" with a slider to see where the ISS will be at times in the not-too-distant future (the predictive data and algorithms do not claim high accuracy after a few days).

There is also a list of times when the ISS is predicted to pass within view of the observer in the next few days. Some passes will be in daylight and not visible; those before dawn and after sunset are usually visible.
